Why It Matters


Not Enough: In the U.S., only about half of adults meet the recommended amount of aerobic physical activity, while only about a fourth of youth meet the recommendation. Benefits: Regular physical activity can help you prevent, delay, or manage chronic diseases. High Rates: Obesity rates are higher among African American adults in Georgia compared to the state’s overall adult population.3,4 In the U.S., Latinx adults face disproportionately high rates of obesity and hypertension. Costly: In Georgia, physical inactivity drives nearly $1 billion in annual health care costs.
